V.M. Ybor

Short for Vicente Martinez Ybor, founded in 1908, this neighborhood was named after one of the original founders of Ybor City. V.M. Ybor is a very diverse neighborhood socio-economically, age, and ethnicity-wise. Most of the neighborhood, from I-4 to the south side of 21st Avenue, and from one property to the west of Nebraska Avenue to the west side of 15th Street, is located within the Local Ybor Historic District. This means that any housing infill needs to be within keeping of the area’s historic fabric, and any exterior work on a structure needs to meet the Barrio Latino Commission Guidelines (BLC Guidelines).

The unique architecture styles that you’ll find in this area include Dutch Gambrel, Craftsman Bungalows, Spanish Mediterranean, Folk Victorian, Mid-Century, and Shotgun Style, to name a few.

V.M. Ybor is home to Cuscaden Pool, a gorgeous oval pool built in 1937 as part of the Works Progress Administration. Cuscaden Pool was designed by Wesley Bintz, and is one of the last remaining above ground pools designed by him. Cuscaden Pool is a local landmark, and is located on the National Register of Historic Places.

V.M. Ybor is also home to La Segunda, a bakery that is over 100 years old, and bakes over 18,000 loaves of Cuban bread daily. Be sure to stop by their original location at 2512 N 15th Street when you are in the area!

Bordered by I-275 to the west, 26th Avenue to the north, 15th Street to the east, and I-4 to the south.
